As described by the Guardian:

“When he’s bored, there’s nothing Damon Albarn likes to do more than knock out an Afro-pastoral folk opera. Especially when it’s an Afro-pastoral folk opera about a 16th-century mathematician.”

In this RadioLab podcast episode (60:00) we get to explore the point where what it means to be human and how we understand what it means to be machine crash messily into each other.

I’ve linked to The Big Ideas podcast before (see this post on Marshall McLuhan and this post on Hannah Arendt) and this time the podcast is discussing the remarkable work of German media philosopher Friedrich Kittler.

This is a really awesome series that condenses complex ideas into digestible chunks. I’d recommend taking 13 minutes out of your day to listen to this discussion about the man sometimes called the ‘Derrida of the digital age’.
